There haven’t been as many changes in Bangbao fishing village this year as compared to last , when the walkway between the houses was covered to make it resemble a narrow indoor market. The main area that has been developed is the land on the peninsula that faces east looking over Bangbao towards Klong Kloi beach on the far side of the bay. There are some great views to be had from the unpaved road that leads from Nirvana Resort to the homestay at the end of the peninsula. The downside is that the price of having uninterrupted views of the fishing village is that loads of trees have been cut down.
If you don’t mind a bit of a walk to the shops then places such as Bhuvarin Resort & Resolution Resort as well as the cheaper bungalows at Homestay Beach and Kho Nok Homestay make for a nice spot away from the crowds. More for peace and quiet than the quality of beach though as there’s just a narrow strip of sand on the shoreline.
If it;s sunset views that you’re after head to Cliff Cottage. For 2014-15 they have new ‘glamping’ tents, some suitable for 1-2 people and others large enough for a family. If you want fresh air, a quiet location, great views, good snorkelling nearby and are on a budget these are a great option. They are furnished with everything you need including a fan, mattress, wardrobe etc. New air-conditioned bungalows are also being built and can now be booked for the coming High Season.
