Overview

Perched on the southern headland of Bang Bao Bay, Resolution Resort feels like it’s reached the end of the road . . . in a good way :-) The resort looks across the water to Bang Bao pier and the beach at Klong Kloi, with jungle-covered hills behind and very little else around.

It’s a small, three-star hideaway: a cluster of rooms and bungalows stepping down to the water, a pool, a simple restaurant and a quiet, almost private atmosphere. If you’re after bars and 7-Elevens, you’ve overshot by several kilometres.

Location – Quiet Headland Near Bang Bao

Resolution Resort sits on the far, southern side of Bang Bao Bay:

• Roughly 2 km from Bang Bao Pier as the crow flies; longer by the winding road
• Overlooks the bay, fishing village and opposite beaches from a slightly elevated position
• Backed by jungle, with macaques, lizards, frogs and plenty of birdlife around the property

The big plus is the peace and the view. The big minus is that you’re a long walk from Bang Bao village, and songthaew taxis charge a premium to come down and collect you from this corner of the island.

To soften that, the resort offers a free shuttle boat to Bang Bao Pier and also over to the beach on the opposite side of the bay, which makes day-to-day movement much easier and more fun.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere at Resolution Resort is exactly what you’d expect from its location: quiet, relaxed and a little bit “lost in the bay”. Guests tend to be couples, small groups of friends and repeat visitors who want somewhere calm to read, swim and stare at the view.

Staff are frequently described as friendly, accommodating and honest, and several reviews mention nice little touches, such as the team contacting a guest after departure and posting forgotten glasses back to them.

Rooms – Simple Sea-View Bungalows

Rooms at Resolution Resort are straightforward but comfortable. Booking.com sums them up as modern Thai décor with balconies and sea views in most categories.

Expect:

• Air-conditioning and fan
• Private bathroom with hot shower
• Flat-screen TV, small fridge, basic storage
• Balcony or terrace, often with views over the bay and Bang Bao pier

Strengths

• Many rooms have genuinely lovely views with guests raving about watching the pier lights and boats from their bed or balcony
• Comfortable beds and decent space for a three-star hideaway
• Quiet at night with no passing traffic or bars thumping away nearby

Weak Spots

• Rooms are starting to show signs of age; multiple reviews note that they “could do with a little revamping”
• Décor is functional rather than stylish, don’t expect a boutique look
• Some of the slope around the resort makes getting to and from certain rooms a touch awkward if you’re not steady on your feet

Facilities

For a small resort at the quiet end of the bay, Resolution is reasonably well equipped:

• Outdoor Pool & Kids’ Pool: An infinity-style pool and small children’s pool overlooking the bay; great in theory, though recent reviews flag issues such as leaks and times when the pool was not operational or not properly cleaned.
• Restaurant & Bar: A simple on-site restaurant serving Thai dishes, seafood and basic Western options that’s generally reviewed as “pretty good” with fair prices.
• Free Kayaks: Guests can kayak around the bay or over to the beach opposite, a nice touch that fits the hideaway feel.
• Shuttle Boat: Free boat to/from Bang Bao pier at set times, and to a nearby beach, making up somewhat for the remote road access.
• Wi-Fi: Free across the property; adequate for normal use, though not aimed at power remote workers.

Waterfront & Beach Access

Resolution Resort sits right on the water, with a small rocky shore and jetty. It’s great for views, photos and launching kayaks, but less good if you dream of wandering out of your room and across soft sand into the sea.

For a proper beach:

• Use the free shuttle boat or kayaks to reach a beach on the opposite side of the bay (towards Klong Kloi), or
• Head round by scooter or taxi to Klong Kloi Beach for a more typical sandy, swimmable setting

How It Compares to Other Hideaways

• Bhuvarin Resort: Also on the south side of Bang Bao Bay, with an even more dramatic hillside infinity pool and slightly higher vantage point. Bhuvarin arguably wins on pool views; Resolution has the edge for anyone wanting a bit more garden and easier access to the water.
• Nirvana Resort (when open): Closer to Bang Bao village, with easier walking access to the pier; Resolution is more remote and peaceful.
• Chivapuri / Tropical Beach (Klong Kloi): Better if you want a proper sandy beach right outside, plus (in Chivapuri’s case) a more upmarket villa-and-pool experience.

Pros & Cons

Pros

• Lovely peaceful headland location with sweeping bay views
• Free kayaks and boat shuttle add a sense of fun and freedom to getting around
• Friendly, attentive staff and relaxed, non-corporate feel
• Good value for a quiet, scenic hideaway
• Plenty of nature around e.g. macaques, birds, frogs and assorted jungle life

Cons

• Remote location isn’t convenient if you want to eat somewhere different every night or explore the island without using taxis/scooters
• Pool has had recurring maintenance issues in the last couple of years
• Rooms and facilities starting to look dated; could do with refurbishment
• No sandy beach directly at the resort

Who Should Stay Here?

Perfect for:

• Couples and friends wanting a peaceful, scenic base away from the main tourist areas
• Travellers who are happy with a “little resort at the end of the bay” vibe
• People who enjoy kayaking, reading by the pool and listening to the jungle at night

Not ideal for:

• Guests who want to stroll to multiple restaurants and bars every evening
• Families with very young children or anyone with mobility issues (slopes, steps, remote location)
• Travellers who are very picky about everything being freshly renovated and ultra-modern

Value for Money

For a small bay-view hideaway with a pool, free kayaks and a boat shuttle, Resolution Resort offers solid value. You’re paying for location, peace and scenery more than polished design, but for many visitors that’s exactly the trade they’re after.

Final Thoughts

Resolution Resort won’t suit everyone: it’s remote, quiet and not on a sandy beach, and the rooms and pool are not the newest on the island. But if you like the idea of a simple, friendly hideaway with big views, a pool (assuming it’s in working order during your dates) and free kayaks to explore Bang Bao Bay, it’s a very appealing little spot to vanish to for a few days.
