Resolution Resort in Bangbao is one of the best small ‘hideaway’ resorts on Koh Chang. The big pluses are the stunning panoramic views, peace and quiet, free wifi, free kayaks and a good restaurant. In addition you can expect to see quite a lot of nature. A troop of macaques live in the hills behind the resort plus a wide variety of lizards, frogs and bird life.

The location isn’t ideal for everyone though as it’s quite a long walk to Bangbao village. And the pick up truck taxis charge a lot to take you there from elsewhere on the island. That would be the one main downside to staying here.On the plus side, the resort does have a free shuttle boat to Bangbao pier – which makes getting there much easier, and more fun.
But providing the location isn’t an issue then Resolution Resort has good value rooms, from just over 2,200 Baht/night in High Season 2020. It’s a good alternative to the nearby Nirvana Resort and Bhuvarin Resort, which are a similar price and standard. Nirvana is nearer the village and Bhuvarin has a better view from their pool.
At Resolution Resort, the staff are very friendly and attentive and the resort is small enough so that you don’t feel like just another room number. If you have a scooter the nearest good beach is on the opposite side of the bay – about 10 minutes ride away. Or you could paddle over there by kayak.

Great view, remote location, fantastic hosts 😀 - Room had an awesome view and the staff were incredibly accommodating, helpful and lovely. Food at the resort was pretty good too! 😞 - Unfortunately the pool didn’t seem to be operational when we arrived, a heads up would have been nice as we were so excited to jump in since it was so hot! Compensation wasn’t provided either. Room was pretty basic and had all you needed, but could do with a little revamping.

I wasnt impressed that it was very much isolated and that it wasnt easy to move around 😀 - some nice views 😞 - location remoteness, on a slope not easy to move around, no true access to sea for swimming, pool looked outdated and not clean

3 nights in Resolution Resort 😀 - Everything was as i expected. Really nice place in remote location. Good hotel for relaxing holiday away from tourist crowds. I forget glasses in my room and hotel staff contacted me and send them to me!!! Very polite move. Can recommend this place.

Thank you! 😀 - Clean stylish seafront bungalow apartment Great View Big seafront window overlooking the fishing village and lighthouse in the quiet south of the island. Great steak in the hotels restaurant Compfty good bed Very cosy resort 😞 - don't hit the bed frame with your shin no rice soup for breakfast! no private terrace older people might not like the stairs, np for sub 60.
