KB Resort is overall, one of the nicest beachfront bungalow resorts on the island. As the resort has expanded over the years the owners though and so the atmosphere has changed. The owners have resisted the temptation to cram in more bungalows. But a hotel block was added and the restaurant and beach bar have been totally renovated during the past few years.

The bungalows, whilst certainly not luxurious are a good 3 star standard and are clean and well maintained. Fan, AC, beachfront and family bungalows are available. They are set in a lush garden area with mature trees providing plenty of shade. The beachfront restaurant is also one of the best in the area with well priced Thai dishes and BBQ seafood. And the adjacent beach bar, complete with hanging swing chairs, is a very pleasant spot for a sunset cocktail.
The swimming pool was built when this was still a small scale bungalow resort. Nowadays, with the addition of the large hotel block that houses the Superior rooms, it can get packed during High Season. the spacious family bungalows are adjacent to the pool area and so can get noisy.
Roadside shops and restaurants are only a minute’s walk away. So, if you are looking for a good, but not luxurious, beachfront bungalow, you can’t really go wrong here. No qualms in recommending it. Compare this with the neighbouring Kai Bae Beach Resort and see which you prefer.
Good 😀 - I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! Its convenient location, beautiful beach, and tranquil atmosphere made it an incredibly cozy and relaxing getaway. 😞 - The breakfasts were quite basic and unfortunately, not very tasty. They could definitely use improvement.

Not worth the price 😀 - Stayed for a night in a beach front bungalow. The beach is beautiful and the location is walking distance to lots of restaurants and shops. 😞 - The price does not reflect the quality of the room and facilities. The room smelt really bad and is really outdated. The breakfast was not fresh and quality was really poor.

Beautiful sea view bungalows 😀 - Great location, very comfortable bed, nice seating area in front of the bungalow 😞 - The "sea view" bungalow that we booked at first, wasn't really sea view (there was another bungalow in front of) and it was the same price as the other ones with much better view. If it is not really sea view it should be cheaper than the other ones. In order to have a real sea view we were forced to switch the bungalow and paid additionally.
The beach is sandy. But at low tide you will get some stones underfoot if you wade out to swim. (At high tide this wont be a problem.) Cant go too far out as there is a lot of seaweed about 100m offshore.
Hi Ian,
Could you please let me know what it is like to swim from the beach at K B Resort and is it all sandy or is it stony and rocky? Thanks.
Kind regards
Sally
Hi Benn. I haven’t heard of any problems. The system seems a bit iffy, but looks like it works OK.
Hi Ian, the payment procedure seems a bit risky, got any complaints or bad experiences about this?
hi Stanislav. Use the link above to book the bungalow or make an inquiry. The comments here don;t go direct to the resort. The resort website is http://www.kbresort.com, but they rarely answer email.
Good day. I’m looking bungalow for my friend. He and his wife will arrive to Koh Chang for 3 weeks starting from 09 to 29 October 2012. What’s the cost of beach front bungalow for such a long time?
The restaurant is open, but building work on hotel rooms which will be above and to the rear is ongoing. I guess it will be finished before next High Season. Not sure where the twin villa is, pretty sure it is in the garden. Not absolute beachfront and not by the pool – the family villas are poolside.
Hello,
Any news regarding the renovation ? I am planning to go in March. Also would you recommand the twin villa ? Where is this villa in the resort ? ( nearby the pool ? Restaurant ? Beach ? )
Hi – i think it will be full. It is a very popular place. They usually dont reply to emails. But should answer the phone.
Hi Ian and Erik,
I have tried to contact the resort this week, using email, fax and telephone, but no success in getting a respond from the contact info on their web-site.
Any Idea how to reach them, or maybe they are fully booked for the next 2-3 weeks so they do not reply?
Thanks,
Guli
Hi Erik They are still building, looks like a long way to go before the new building is completed. Maybe completed by December – but will need to speed up the work a bit I think
Hi Ian,
Thanks for your website info. I have been staying at KB resort for 10 years now and I agree with your description and recommendation. I have one remark though which you might want to check out: at KB they tore down the restaurant and are building a hotel with a new restaurant included Three floors? Khun Dow told me she hopes its completed by Christmas. I do too as I booked several bungalows for my family. The food has always been very good and I hope all is ready when we come over. I stayed by late May and at that stage the entire hotel site was a big mess. If maybe have an update on their building progress that would be great.
Thanks,
Erik
Hi Ian,
Recently stayed at KB resort with family, 10 people. Had great time and would recommend this resort to anyone! Stayed for 9 nights. Low season meant we had beach and sea to ourselves most days, my parents stayed in beach villa and loved opening the doors to a gorgeous sea view each morning. Myself, 2 brothers and 2 sisters stayed in family villa, at the back of the resort near the swimming pool. This was great place to swim with my 3 year daughter which had a shallow kids area. The villas were beautiful with comfy beds and cleaned each day. Even though there was building work going on it never bothered us and it was completely relaxing environment. We were blessed with weather, hardly rained, and was mostly sunny every day.
The main street of Kai Bae had plenty of shops and restaurants (esp. Papas for brekkie and Kai Bae restaurant). We ended up in Kinky Ga Ga s bar more than once with his fish tank for your feet!! Had some great excursions * the 4 island snorkelling * the elephant treking * the cooking classes * the waterfall. All in all was a great trip and memorable for everyone. Hope to return soon!
ps thanks for the help with organising transfer from bangkok with evolution tour and the excellent info on this site.
All the best,
Colm
