West Coast Islands

Koh Rom

Umbrella island. So called as the tree perched atop the rocky outcrop resembles an umbrella of some kind.   There is some pretty good snorkelling around this island.   Unlike the other islands nearby it doesn’t rise majestically out of the ocean, the land mass is very small and the water around is shallow, with a drop off at the back ( west) of the island.   You can easily pull a kayak out of the water on the usually sheltered southeast corner of the island.   Snorkel here and also around the southwest tip.

Worth Visiting? Not on it’s own but combined with the nearby Koh Suwan it makes for a relatively easy paddle from any resort in Kai Bae or south & central Klong Prao beaches.
