Aside for a couple of good options, one of which, Boogie Chicken, I’ve already mentioned, if yo are looking for good Thai food on White Sand beach you’re going to have to walk away from the more touristy places and find restaurants which may not have fancy decor, uniformed staff or an expat manager on site but do have good food for a good price. Siam Kitchen is located on the main road at the far southern end of the beach. Easy to find as it’s just south of the 7-eleven.
Here’s where you’ll get a tourist friendly picture menu in English & Thai with a few Russian language specials thrown in too. I’ve eaten there in the evening when diners were a good mix of Thai and western tourists. There’s no music and it’s not a place with much ambiance but it’s clean and the staff are pretty much on the ball. This time was in the daytime, another of my very late, 3pm, lunches, hence the lack of other customers in the photos. One thing I wanted to try as I’d heard it was good was the ‘Hor Mok’ – this is a basically a concoction of fish or seafood with coconut milk & red curry which is cooked by steaming. Also common as streetfood in some areas of Thailand and in Cambodia it’s pretty much the national dish. ( Every tourist orders ‘Amok’ the Cambodian version when they go to a restaurant in Siem Reap, yet hardly any foreigners order the Thai version when in Thailand. Try it, you wont be disappointed. ) Also in the pics is some fried Kale and pork with cracking – another dish which needs a bit of care as the pork need to be tender but also have a crunchy skin.
Both were excellent. And I will happily return again if I’m in need of a lunchtime feed in White Sands. Recommended for anyone who likes Thai food as it should be made and doesn’t need to be able to see the sea whilst enjoying it.
Price: $ – $$$

Location: On the inland side of the road midway between the 7-Eleven outside Changburi Resort and the beer bar area.
These restaurant reviews are just my thoughts on a place at the time I visited. I’ll mention if I know the owner well or get any freebies. But for the most of the time I am happy to play tourist and don’t mention this site at all. Obviously it isn’t possible to sample every dish on the menu and the type of food you have for lunch will differ to evening. In addition, owners and more importantly chefs, can change and your experience may differ from mine. If it does, post a comment below.
