Dan Mai, the administrative capital of Koh Chang now has a new road. Pretty exciting news ( if you happen to live in Dan Mai ) and, to be fair, it is probably the most interesting thing to happen there since the fish sauce factory closed down over 20 years ago.
I’m only mentioning the new road as it’s a nice little detour if you’re on your scooter and heading down the East coast. You can go into the village from the north, turning off just before the hospital. Then follow the road down to the sea and check out the pier. Before heading past the temple and school to rejoin the main road opposite the police station. It’s more interesting than taking the main road. A lot of people just ignore the village or don’t realise there’s a little community and old pier down by the sea. it’s worth checking out.
A cycle route was planned and a map drawn up but the free bicycles have long gone. As have most of the signs for the points of interest en-route. But if you want to explore the area, this is where the original cycling route went. It was only completed a year ago but already been forgotten by whoever spent the money to plan it and pay for signs etc
This website was… how do I say it? Relevant!! Finally I’ve found something that helped me plan my holiday to Koh Chang.
Thanks a lot!
