Klong Prao is the longest of Koh Chang’s beaches and is located smack in the middle of the west coast. Most accommodation is in large package tour or luxury resorts, the main exceptions being three backpacker huts – KP Huts, Tiger Huts and The Hut, all of which offer simple ensuite fan huts for a few hundred baht a night right on the beach.
Unlike White Sand beach, resorts aren’t crammed into small plots of land and so most resorts have long stretches of beachfront and in between there are several large undeveloped areas. This, plus having a river estuary in the centre of the beach, ensures that the beach, especially the middle section just south of the river mouth is always quiet.
These photos take you from Chai Chet Resort, in the north to Chock Dee Resort at the southern end of the bay. In between you pass Coconut Beach Resort, Paradise Resort, Koh Chang Resort, Klong Prao Resort. The in the estuary you’ll find Aana Resort, Keereeta Lagoon and our guesthouse – Baan Rim Nam. Back on the beach again you have The Hut, Panviman Resort, Tiger Hut, KP Hut, Barali Resort, Tropicana Resort, Blue Lagoon – tucked away in an inlet, The Dewa, VJ Hotel, Amari Emerald Cove, Grand Cabana, Magic Resort and Chock Dee Resort.
