Whilst the resort itself is very nice, with villas tucked away on a lush hilltop and wooden trails leading through the resort, the one main point to bear in mind is that you can’t walk to the beach if you stay here. Although they do have a beach. but it is located at the mouth of the estuary.

During the day guests can take a free boat service 300 metres to Aana’s private beach at the mouth of the estuary or can paddle themselves  by  canoe.  However, the service doesn’t operate at night.  So you won’t be enjoying even strolls on the sand if you stay here.  It’s  a bit annoying if you aren’t aware of this when you book.

There isn’t any nightlife in the vicinity.  But there are two riverside seafood restaurants, both very good and mainly catering to Thai visitors. Plus a couple of expat owned small restaurants and bars which are good for a beer and inexpensive homemade Thai and western food.

The main hotel block is located well away from the restaurant so it is a bit of a trek to breakfast but the rooms are all well appointed and the resort also features two pools, a large one by the river in front of the Superior rooms and a smaller hilltop pool.

Between mid 2019 and mid 2020, the riverside restaurant was totally rebuilt and some rooms refurbished.  Hopefully some of the small issues that annoy guests will also be addressed eg poor wifi, lack of training for some staff and basic, minor repairs which need doing.  Doing the basics well would instantly result in better reviews and shouldn’t be hard for a hotel of this standard to get right.

Aana Resort is cheaper than beachfront hotels on the same standard.  And as a bonus you’ll see our guesthouse directly opposite you when you are having breakfast by the river :-)  High Season room rates from around 2,500 Baht.  During the low season you will often find some excellent bargain deals.

An amazing stay in Aana resort 🙏🏽 😀 - Everything ! This place is a paradise on earth 🥰 couldn’t imagine a better place for our honeymoon 🥰 😞 - Could hear a bit of music on the 1st night which was a little bothering…
Romantic and scenic! 😀 - The most comfortable bed ever!!! definitely had some good night sleeps! A very beautiful pool with a stunning view of the river/lagoon! A bit far from food areas so suggest a scooter, overall loved! 😞 - A bit far from food areas, not very walkable but still amazing with a scooter!
Definitely recommend it 😀 - I only have positive things to say. I enjoyed my stay a lot. The staff was kind, the hotel beautiful, the rooms nice & clean, the breakfast delicious. There are two pools that weren’t crowded even though the hotel was fully booked. There is a free boat shuttle to the beach and you can do a free firefly tour. 😞 - The location is not central but therefore it’s quiet.
Beautiful stay 😀 - Both of the pools were great and the hotel looks cute (very instagramable). They have a boat service to the beach every 5-10 minutes. I would love to come back! 😞 - The breakfast, even though it is good, it could have a bit more options.
Exceptional 😀 - We had a nice room with great balcony of nice view. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable, every day they cleaned our room. The breakfast was really amazing, lot of choices. Staff was really nice, you can rent motorbike or kayak at the hotel or order a taxi. Everyone were very smiley and nice. 😞 - Most nicest beaches are not very close to the hotel, thus it is supported to have motorbike if you want to discover island little bit.
Passable 😀 - The hotel is ok, has a nice infinity pool and another one on the ground floor. It is clean and the rooms were well cleaned. It's definitely quite old and some things need improvement. The breakfast is average - there is not much choice for people who live healthily. The only thing we could eat were boiled eggs or corn flakes. It would be nice if there was also muesli and yogurt to choose from, and not just milk... Scrambled eggs and omelette were terrible :( Greasy and tasteless. The coffee was the worst we have ever drank in Thailand... But there is one more thing that is terrible... AIR CONDITIONING! Both my husband and I We had a sore throat all the time. It's impossible to set it correctly. It's either very cold or completely hot. There is no option to change it to normal temperature. The staff was ok, but without emotions. Unfortunately, we won't come back. 😞 - None
