Klong Kloi Beach – the new Lonely Beach(?)

Klong Kloi Beach

Klong Kloi Beach

I was down in Klong Kloi beach the other day and it struck me that it was becoming another Lonely beach.  I don’t mean the modern Lonely beach where bars compete with each other to have to loudest sound systems and you can’t get to sleep until 5am due to the vibrating bass.  It seems more of a mix of old Lonely beach vibe, with simple bars and restaurants and dusty roads but with the addition of a few more deckchairs on the sand.

The first couple of hundred metres of beach is lined with small beach bars and restaurants.  There’s even the obligatory rasta bar with Happy Shakes on the menu. All have deckchairs and sunloungers on the sand and this area can get busy with day trippers.  But the further along the beach you go, the quieter it gets.  There are a few places to stay – if you’re on a budget then BangBao Beach Resort and Klong Kloi Cottages are worth checking out.  If you fancy a bit of luxury then Chivapuri Beach Resort caters to you.  And if you’re somewhere in the middle and want to be a few minutes walk from the busier area then Tropical Beach Resort has mid-range AC bungalows.

In the past year or so , new businesses have also started to spring up inland, away from the beach.  Here’s where you’ll find a mix of cheap huts ideal for longer stays and small shops. There’s no 7 – eleven but there is a minimart which saves having to go to Bangbao village a couple of kilometers away for supplies.
