Salakphet and Salakkok Map
At first glance it may seem that there aren’t many sights in this area of Koh Chang. That’s because the attractions are natural in this very scenic, ‘local’ area of the island, rather than man made. The two mangrove forests, which can be reached by walkways and the views across Salakkok and Salakphet bays should be on your ‘Must See‘ list.
Getting here is a bit of a hassle as there is no public transport so either rent a car or motorbike, or sign up for one of the guided day trips that take in the main sights.
If you do make the effort to visit the southeast of Koh Chang, you will be rewarded with some great views, quiet local villages,a couple of remote beaches and not a 7-eleven , souvenir shop or tailor’s in sight.
For detailed information on where to spot a local person doing local things and photograph them without fear of being accused of stealing their soul, see the Island Guide. If you’d prefer to just look at pretty pictures then check out the Photo Galleries.
