Swimming with Dolphins at Oasis Seaworld, Chantaburi

Take a trip to Oasis Seaworld, Chantaburi. Show and swimming with Irawaddy and Bottlenose dolphins

Oasis Seaworld, at Laem Singh beach, Chantaburi is the closest location to Koh Chang where you can easily see and swim with dolphins.

Whilst it is just 300 Baht to see a dolphin show, the main reason to visit is for the opportunity to get in the water and swim with the dolphins. This isn’t cheap at 2,500 Baht per person, but it is far less expensive than  doing the same thing in Europe or US and it’s the type of thing you should try once in your life.  Although, if you are concerned with animal welfare, doing it in the wild is by far  a  better option, but that isn’t always possible.

The dolphin park is just over an hour’s drive from the mainland pier for Koh Chang.  Whilst dolphins are occasionally sighted off Koh Chang, in the channel between Koh Chang and Koh Ngam, and off the west coast of Koh Mak the chances of seeing them in the wild are extremely slim.

As only a small number of people can swim with the dolphins daily, advance booking is required, especially in High Season.

You’ll see a 30 minute show, highlights of which include: dolphins jumping through hoops; wearing hats; wearing glasses; dolphins shaking hands – that kind of thing. Don’t expect to actually learn too much about the odd looking Irrawaddy dolphins and Pink Bottlenose dolphins on show, other than how cute they look when doing tricks.  This isn’t an educational experience

However, the actual swimming sounds like fun. It’s the type of thing, like elephant trekking, or bungee jumping that  you  experience once and then tick it off  on your ‘To Do’ list.

The ‘Swimming with Dolphins’ takes place in a training pool, separate from the pool where you have just been enjoying/enduring the show.   It’s very rare you can do this and there is a limit of 10 people doing this during each hour long session.   So visitors will get plenty of time up close and personal with the animals.  On site there are also a souvenir & gem shop and a restaurant where you’ll be fed and watered.
