Saffron on the Sea is a cosy little bungalow resort tucked away by the sea on Pearl Beach. The seven rooms consist of three single bungalows and two , 2 floor ‘bungalows’ with a room on each floor.
All rooms are brightly lit with large windows and most have great views of the sea. The rooms are comfortable – with hot water shower, fridge and cable TV and are all individually decorated. You can tell the Thai owner has added their personal touch to each room.
Bungalows all open out into a seafront garden that is awash with numerous varieties of tropical plants and mature trees, which are all illuminated beautifully at night.
The resort rarely advertises and, having been open for over 15 years, has built up a loyal following of repeat guests, many of whom stay longterm during the High Season. Many other visitors to the island know the resort for it’s restaurant, which is without doubt one of the best on Koh Chang. If you want to experience great Thai food and cocktails then try the restaurant at Saffron and your tastebuds will thank you. ( Note that the resort changed ownership in 2016, has been redesigned slightly. The bar area in particular is now more modern. )
There is no beach at Saffron, just a rocky shoreline. But scooters are available for rent and both White Sand beach and Klong Prao beach are less than 5 minutes away by bike or pick up truck taxi.
Recommended for anyone looking for a friendly haven for their holidays on Koh Chang.
