Koh Chang Resortel is one of those resorts that you would easily miss if you didn’t know it was there. It’s as though they go in for the stealth approach to attracting guests. You won’t see any adverts for them and unless you know where to look you’ll miss the sign by the roadside. Despite this being a huge resort.
All this leads to the assumption that the resort is geared up for Thai visitors and package tourists who come with their own guide and don’t really know where they are staying until they reach the resort itself. Plus the occasional walk in guest who sees cheap room rates advertised on the roadside signboard. ( Walk in rates are lower than those on Agoda )
The rooms are big spacious and dark with thick blackout curtains blocking out any light and allowing you to sleep until noon. All rooms look out over one of two pools. By the beach is a smaller freeform pool, whilst in the centre of the resort is an Olympic sized pool – 50 metres long with 8 lanes including those old fashioned concrete starting blocks last seen in the Moscow Olympics in 1980. If you enjoy a long morning swim this is the resort for you.
Worth a look if you are travelling with Thai friends or family or if you are visiting during peak season and your first, second and third choice of resorts are full. As you can be pretty sure you can get a room here at any time of year. Prices aren’t bad but guest reviews are very average.
