Overview

Barali Beach Resort sits roughly mid-way along Klong Prao Beach, on the west coast of Koh Chang, an area known for its long, gently curving bay and relatively low-rise development. Accommodation here is all in villas, no hotel blocks: 24 individual units arranged through gardens and along the beachfront.

The resort pitches itself as a contemporary Asian-style beach retreat. In practice that means sloping roofs, lots of wood, airy interiors, light colours and the sort of semi-open layout that feels resolutely “resort” but still low-key. The centrepiece is the pool which is a large, rectangular, infinity-style affair looking straight out over the sea, ringed by plumeria trees and palms. It’s one of those pools that inevitably ends up in people’s holiday photos.

Location – On the Sand at Klong Prao

Barali’s location is one of its biggest selling points:

• It’s directly on the sand at Klong Prao Beach, which is often described as one of Koh Chang’s best all-round beaches for swimming, walking and sunsets.
• The beachfront here is wide and gently shelving, with soft sand and usually calm water in high season.
• You’re a short taxi or scooter ride from Klong Prao village and about 20 minutes from the ferry piers and White Sand Beach.

Although the resort itself feels quite tucked away, it’s not isolated. There are other mid-range and upper-midrange resorts scattered along this stretch of beach, plus some local restaurants and massage places within walking distance along the sand or the road.

Atmosphere

Barali is noticeably quieter and more intimate than the big names like Koh Chang Paradise or Klong Prao Resort. With only 24 villas, the vibe is more “small beach hotel” than “complex”.

• Days revolve around the pool and beach, lounging, books, the occasional cocktail.
• There’s a mix of couples, long-stay guests and a few families, but it rarely feels busy.
• Evenings are low-key: dinner by the beach, maybe a drink, then bed. If you want bars and live music on the doorstep, you’ll be happier in Kai Bae or Lonely Beach.

Reviews on major booking sites repeatedly mention peace and quiet, cleanliness and relaxed staff which is essentially the Barali brand in a nutshell.

• Deluxe / Premier Deluxe Villas: Garden villas set back from the beach, with terraces facing lawns and paths. These are the entry-level rooms but still decently large, with seating areas and good storage.
• Junior Suite Villas: Larger villas with more living space and upgraded bathrooms, often closer to the pool or with better views.
• Pool Villas / Beachfront Pool Villas: The top-end units with private plunge pools and partial or full sea views; some are just steps from the sand.

Barali sits on one of the better bits of central Klong Prao:

• Easy, flat walks up and down the bay; you can head north towards Klong Prao Resort and Chai Chet or south towards Paradise and The Dewa.
• Sunsets directly in front of the resort, often reflected in the pool, hence the photos on every booking site.

In the monsoon months the sea can be rougher and swimming may be restricted, but that’s an island-wide issue rather than something specific to Barali.

Food & Breakfast

Barali’s restaurant is more about quality and setting than having dozens of outlets:

• Breakfast: Well-reviewed buffet with Western and Thai options, served by the beach or pool area. Travellers mention fresh fruit, eggs cooked to order and decent coffee as positives.
• Lunch & Dinner: Thai curries, stir-fries, grilled seafood and some European staples; solid rather than ultra-gourmet, but nicely presented and convenient if you don’t want to walk elsewhere.

It’s easy enough to wander along the beach or road to alternative places if you fancy a change. Klong Prao has everything from cheap noodle stalls to more polished tourist restaurants within a short ride.

How Barali Compares to Other Klong Prao Resorts

• Barali vs Koh Chang Paradise: Paradise is much larger, has a water park area and is very family-oriented; Barali is smaller, more intimate and feels more adult-leaning.
• Barali vs Santhiya Tree: Santhiya is more luxurious, with private pools in almost every room and heavier Thai decor; Barali is simpler, less ornate and generally cheaper. 
• Barali vs VAYNA / The Dewa: VAYNA is another low-rise beachfront resort with a mellow vibe; The Dewa is more design-led and a bit larger. Barali feels like the smallest and most “hideaway” of the bunch.

Probably not ideal for:

• Families with very young kids who’d benefit from slides, playgrounds and organised activities
• Nightlife-focused travellers
• People who want a huge choice of bars and restaurants within a 2-minute walk

Value for Money

Given that Barali is a true villa resort on a very good slice of Klong Prao Beach, with an iconic pool and a small, quiet feel, its mid-upper price tag makes sense. You’re paying for space, setting and relative exclusivity rather than for massive facilities. For many couples and repeat visitors, that trade-off feels very fair indeed.

Final Thoughts

Barali Beach Resort doesn’t shout the loudest on Klong Prao but that’s exactly why a certain type of Koh Chang visitor loves it. If your ideal holiday is a comfortable villa, a quiet infinity pool, a proper beach and not too many people, Barali sits in a very sweet spot between simple bungalows and full-on luxury pool-villa complexes.
