Santhiya Tree Resort Koh Chang

Santhiya Tree Resort, Klong Prao beach, Koh Chang

Santhiya Tree Koh Chang Resort is located in the centre of Klong Prao beach.   This is one of the quietest areas of beach on the west coast.   Even in high season you will only see a couple of dozen people out on the sand.  Just one of the reasons this is one of the best resorts on Koh Chang.

There are no pushy beach vendors and  no rows of deckchairs on the sand.   Just a couple of small beach massage places, a couple of low key restaurants and couple of  laid back backpacker bungalow huts nearby, where you can also get sensibly priced food and drinks.

It’s a good spot to get away from it all.   The negatives are that the design of the resort maybe a bit too  over the top ‘mock temple’ for some.   And that the quiet location means that it is 15 minutes walk to the village and nearest 7-eleven.

Figure on a 15 minute walk to the main road.   However, the hotel does have a free shuttle service but this doesn’t run all day, only at selected times. And finally, the room rates are amongst the highest on the island.

The villas near the beach all have either pool access or a private pool. This is in addition to the large beachfront pool.  This pool can get busy during the high season, so if you want some privacy the pool villas might be worth splashing out on.

In 2018 Santhiya Tree Resort opened a new riverside hotel block.  This is a towering four floor structure that is clad in teak wood – giving the appearance of a wooden palace.  Despite the size there are only an additional 28 rooms.  However each room, also decked in teak from floor to ceiling, has a private plunge pool with sunrise view of the jungle. On the ground floor is a 40 metre long lap pool and restaurant.

Highly recommended if you enjoy a bit of luxury.  But if it’s too remote try The Dewa or Emerald Cove at the busier southern end of Klong Prao beach.

Wonderful paradise 😀 - Absolutely stunning interiors and surroundings. Staff was more than perfect. They were all polite and nice all the time. We will never forget their smiles! Room was spacious and very cosy. 😞 - Breakfast options could be improved. Even though it was changing every day, it was still quite boring.

Fantastic. 😀 - Breakfast was amazing!!! The choice was fantastic and i was able to find a lot of options for my dietary requirements. I let the staff know of my food allergy on the first day and was greeted with certain items each day in addition to the food available for everyone. Thank you. 😞 - None

We were looking for a quiet getaway and certainly found it. 😀 - The hotel was beautiful and in a stunning location. All staff were extremely welcoming, the rooms were amazing and food excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel. 😞 - I could not find fault with this hotel. I've seen negative reviews about location and the hotel is certainly off the beaten track so worth considering when choosing whether to book, but once you are there you will not be disappointed.

Wonderful! 😀 - The breakfast was great. It had a wide selection of options like continental breakfast foods, fresh fruit, Asian options and sweet desserts. The breakfast area has a breathtaking view of the river and mountains. The room was very nice! The water in the pool in the pool suite is quite cold, but refreshing if you have spent time sunbathing. The beach is very nice, especially for viewing the sunset. Beyond that, the staff are wonderful. Especially Yuya, Mo, Ujan, and Touch. Thank you for making us feel so welcome! You made our stay very special ❤️❤️. We can't wait to come back! 😞 - The back door of our pool suite did not lock easily. It required a lot of force to lock it. There were some power outages that caused the WiFi to drop a lot. It was worse when the weather was stormy. The food at the hotel restaurant is expensive compared to nearby restaurants.

  • I have just booked 18 days at the Panviman via a german website , charged in EUR.

On average we are paying THB 3,650 per night, so checking out several agencies/websites can save you almost 50% of the price the hotel itself charges.
