Kai Bae Beach Resort
Kai Bae Beach Resort has been undergoing a face-lift and modernisation over the past couple of years. A new swimming pool, hotel block, restaurant, car park and reception. Plus beachfront bungalows and coffeeshop have gone up. So basically it;s a totally different place to the original resort. And that’s a good think. It was looking tired and it now resembles a modern resort. And finally, after about 3 years, guests won’t have any building work going on around the resort.
The hotel rooms are very generic though. But offer good value for money. Around 2,500 Baht / night will get you a sea view room with all the essential amenities. The bungalows are the only remnants of the original and they have been spruced up a little. These are around the same price as the modern hotel rooms.
The resort is in a very handy location, right in the centre of Kai Bae beach, a 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants on the main road.
That coupled with a nice beach right outside and you can’t really go wrong if you are looking for a mid-price room by the sea for a couple of weeks. It’s not a place for party animals but ideal for families and couples. It’s a deservedly popular resort and one to go for if you don’t find any others that really grab your attention and just want something that ticks the beach / location / Aircon room / boxes.

When my fiancé and I were searching for a beach resort to spend our honeymoon at, we came across the Kai Bae Beach Resort. I had read many reviews of Koh Chang being one of the most beautiful places in Thailand so I did I little more research and found that the Kai Bae Beach Resort was a good choice and within our (limited) budget.
The resort is surrounded by huge coconut trees and breathtaking views of the sandy beach. We were pleased to find out that the bungalow we had booked was a couple-friendly, low key, and private. Yet, right by the beach.
The price we paid to stay in the room per night was low in relation to the service quality we received. he moment we stepped into the hotel the concierge came rushing to our service. He carried all our bags and escorted us to our room as soon as we checked in. The hospitality of all the employees at the Kai Bae Beach Resort was excellent. We were politely greeted by happy, smiling faces and felt a warm welcome from everyone.
The room we booked was exceptionally large and clean. We had tons of space to ourselves and did not feel overcrowded by the room itself. The room lighting came with dimmers which was a great addition to the overall ambience of the bungalow.
The hotel offered great amenities too. We booked a private couples’ massage that was definitely worth the expense. Room service was available 24/7. We had a fast and stable Wi-Fi connection in our room and within the hotel at all times.
Now let us move on to the food. We were given complimentary breakfast each morning of our stay. We would head down to the hotel restaurant (which was lovely btw) anytime between 7 and 11 and enjoy our complimentary breakfast buffet. Each morning the chefs would serve a variety of foods including eggs, bacon, cereals, pancakes and waffles, hash browns, fresh fruits, salads, breads and butter, fresh juices, hot tea and coffee and much more. So plenty of choice each day.
Usually we didn’t bother with lunch and just ate again in the evening. A couple of times at the resort, which was Ok but we found the best food in the restaurants on the roadside. There’s a small Thai place, whose name I forget, located opposite the entrance to the resort. They did proper, spicy Thai dishes.
The overall experience at the Kai Bae Beach Resort was great. Everyone was amazing and super friendly and advised us on the best places to visit within the island. This saved us quite a lot of time and money.
We would definitely give this place double thumbs up. Although we spent an amazing time at the hotel as a couple, I would recommend it to every from from singles to families.
