Alina Grande Hotel & Resort – Full Review
Overview
Alina Grande sits on the inland side of the main road at White Sand Beach, Koh Chang. It offers large rooms, a pool, garden space and a restaurant, all within minutes of the sand and beachside bars. It’s not a boutique hideaway or ultra-luxury resort, but it fills a very useful niche: solid mid-budget beach-edge accommodation where you get space and convenience for your money.
If your priority is staying right on the sand with full resort facilities, you’ll find better but at a higher price. If instead you want affordability, location and comfort without fuss, Alina Grande should be on your shortlist.
Location
The hotel is very well placed: just across the road from White Sand Beach, with restaurants, 7-Eleven/minimarts and bars within walking distance. It’s central enough that you’re in the thick of things, but far enough back that you avoid being literally on the sand of the busiest beachfront row.
Atmosphere
The vibe is friendly, functional and straightforward. Guests often comment on the large rooms, pool and helpful staff. It doesn’t attempt to be high design or ultra-exclusive. Some groups use it as a “base camp” for exploring, rather than a place to lounge in luxury all day.
Rooms – Spacious, Functional, Mixed in Style
One of the stronger points: the room sizes. Many reviews note that for the price you get more space than you’d expect. Rooms come with AC, balcony, fridge, TV and private bathroom. Some rooms have been updated; others still feel a bit dated. Reviews mention things like: “hotel is a little dated but clean and spacious”.
If you care about interior styling, you may prefer to choose one of the newer rooms or a different resort; but many guests report they are more than happy with the comfort given the price.
Facilities
Facilities include:
- The pool in a garden area behind the main building is good for a dip or a relaxed afternoon.
- Restaurant and bar serving Thai and international food, pool-side service.
- Free Wi-Fi (though some reviews say signal is patchy in rooms).
- On-site parking (limited) and easy access to songthaew routes.
It’s not teeming with extras: no massive resort spa for example, fewer bells and whistles than higher-end resorts but what’s there works and the pricing reflects that.
The Beach
The beach is just across the road, so access is straightforward. The stretch of White Sand Beach here is busy, lively and very walkable. It may not be as wide or quiet as the northernmost sections, but it means you’re in the heart of things, which many travellers like.
If you want ultra-quiet or huge beach stretch, you may prefer resorts further north, but if you value being among the restaurants, bars and central action, Alina Grande hits the mark.
How It Compares to Nearby Options
- Kacha Resort: More resort-style with multiple pools, kids’ zones and beachfront grounds; pricier.
- Ban Saikao Plaza: More budget but further back from the beach and minimal facilities. Alina gives you a pool and a restaurant too.
- Cookies Hotel: Similar location and budget zone, but fewer facilities / smaller rooms. If you want space, Alina wins.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Large rooms for the price
- Great location near the beach and amenities
- Helpful staff and good value overall
- Nice pool/garden area for the cost
Cons
- Décor and furnishings are dated in some rooms
- Noise possible from nearby bars or road (choose room wisely)
- Facilities fewer than full resort rivals, less “luxury” feeling
- Parking is limited and may be hard to get at peak times.
Who Should Stay Here?
Perfect for:
- Budget-conscious travellers who still want a comfortable room by the beach
- Families or groups who value extra space and a pool for a reasonable price
- Guests who plan to be out exploring much of the day and just want a reliable base
Not ideal for:
- Luxury-seekers wanting pristine new décor and full-scale amenities
- Light sleepers in high season if your room faces bars or the main road
- Travellers who prioritise a serene beach over central walkability
Value for Money
For what you get, sizeable rooms, excellent location, a pool and good service then Alina Grande offers strong value. If you’re not comparing it to five-star resorts, you’ll likely come away feeling you got a good deal. If you pick the right room (quiet side, up floor), you’ll feel even better.
Final Thoughts
Alina Grande Hotel & Resort is an excellent mid-range choice on White Sand Beach: large, comfortable rooms; very good location; and decent facilities without resort-level splurge. If you’re looking for a good base, value-wise, and plan to explore Koh Chang rather than camp at the resort, this hits the sweet spot.
If you prefer full-service resorts with multiple pools, designer décor and total peace, you’ll probably want to spend a little more. But if you want a smart, comfortable and value option close to the action, Alina Grande earns its keep.

We were put in the Alina on the beach first of all which was extremely old and run down. Shower and handbasin did not work and the bed was dirty. The following morning we moved across the road to the main hotel which was excellent. Would definitely recommend as a value-for-money hotel.
Nice hotel. Very clean, basic and good value for money. Casual and easy going. Would stay here again.
