Tiger Hut offers very basic accommodation in ensuite fan bungalows in a quiet area of Klong Prao beach. Most backpackers head to the busier areas such as Lonely Beach where they can be with hundreds of similar travellers.
If you are on a tight budget, just want to be by the sea in a quiet spot and don’t want to spend every night being bored to tears listening to Ben the gap year backpacker’s exploits in Vietnam for the hundredth time, then Tiger Huts is a good choice.
Not a place to stay if you like to party but they do have a large beachfront restaurant and bar which attracts a range of people from other resorts at the south of the beach, the neigbouring Santhiya Tree Resort and our guesthouse. The restaurant offers very good Thai and Western food for very reasonable prices. In fact it’s some of the best beachfront Thai food you’ll find anywhere. Just apith the owners don’t spend any money on making the restaurant appear inviting or bright and cheerful.
In addition some of the bungalows are a bit tired and rundown. Check the mozzie net for holes and mattress for comfort before you agree on which room to have.
Good for anyone on budget who needs a basic hut in a quiet spot with a great beach, good food & laid back atmosphere. Not good if you;re expecting fireshaows, a beach party, cold press drip coffe or even wifi. They don’t have any of that.
Stayed at the Tiger huts from 21/08/09 -23/08/09 and though basic rooms we bartered for a good price , ‘Tiger’ the owner is a very friendly guy who made us very welcome as did the rest of the staff !
Good food and cheap beer was available until late and free food was also laid on when Tiger organized a fire show on the beach .
All in All I would say well worth a few nights however if you are a light sleeper you may be disturbed by the gentle lapping of the waves right out side your front door :D , but hey! for 250 baht a night you can live with that !
