Koh Chang Paradise Resort & Spa – Klong Prao Beach

Scorecard:

Overall Rating: 8.9 / 10
A large, family-friendly beachfront resort on central Klong Prao with 80 bungalows and villas spread over 51 rai of landscaped grounds. Directly on a 260-metre stretch of sand, with a big pool, water park section, spa and good restaurant. One of the strongest “all-rounder” choices on Klong Prao for couples and families who want a proper resort right on the beach.

  • Location: 9.1 / 10 – Prime position on central Klong Prao Beach, about 260m of direct beach frontage and only 15 minutes’ drive from the ferry piers. Quiet but still close enough to Klong Prao shops and restaurants.
  • Rooms: 8.7 / 10 – Around 80 garden and beachfront bungalows and villas; comfortable, clean and well-equipped, with newer pool villas at the top end.
  • Facilities: 9.0 / 10 – Large pool, children’s water park, spa (The Royal Spa), beachfront restaurant, pool bar and spacious gardens.
  • Beach / Sea Access: 9.4 / 10 – Directly on a long, sandy, swimmable section of Klong Prao; shallow water, good for kids and sunsets.
  • Breakfast / Food: 8.9 / 10 – Very well-reviewed breakfast with lots of choice; dinner gets praise for quality Thai food, seafood and fire shows some nights.
  • Service: 8.8 / 10 – Friendly Thai staff, generally efficient; a few reviews note occasional inconsistency but overall feedback is strongly positive.
  • Value for Money: 8.8 / 10 – Not the cheapest, but given the beachfront, water park, gardens and room quality, very fair especially for families.

What We Liked

  • Real “resort feel” big but low-rise, with lawns, palms and lots of space
  • 260 m of beachfront on one of Koh Chang’s best swimming beaches
  • Water park area and kids’ pool  brilliant for families with younger children
  • Comfortable bungalows and villas with garden or sea views
  • Good breakfast and well-regarded evening restaurant with occasional fire shows

What Could Be Better

  • It’s a popular family resort, so expect children and some pool noise in high season
  • Not as “boutique” or romantic as smaller adults-focused places
  • Some older garden bungalows show a bit of cosmetic age compared to newer villas
  • Mosquitoes can be an issue around gardens after rain,  pack repellent

Best For

  • Families wanting a beachfront resort with a water park and safe swimming
  • Couples who like a classic, comfortable beach resort rather than a design hotel
  • Groups who want everything on-site: pool, beach, restaurant and spa

Koh Chang Paradise Resort & Spa – Full Review

Overview

Koh Chang Paradise Resort & Spa is one of Klong Prao’s “classic” big beachfront resorts. With 51 rai (about 17 acres) of coconut trees, lawns, bungalows and villas lining a 260-metre stretch of sand. It manages to feel like a real resort , large pool, beach bar, spa, water park  without veering into high-rise or concrete jungle territory. Everything is low-rise, with lots of greenery and space between units.

The resort has evolved over the years from a simple bungalow set-up into a more sophisticated property with upgraded villas, a children’s water park and a spa. In 2025, it’s firmly in the “upper mid-range” bracket: not as high-end as Santhiya or The Chill, but definitely a step above the average 3-star.

Location – Right on Central Klong Prao Beach

Paradise sits in the middle of Klong Prao Beach. Arguably the best all-round beach on Koh Chang for a combination of sand quality, swimming and relative calm:

  • 260 metres of direct beach frontage on a wide, gently curving bay.
  • Soft sand, shallow entry and usually calm water in high season and great for kids.
  • Roughly 15 minutes’ drive from the ferry piers, so you’re on the sand not long after arriving.
  • Short drive or taxi ride to Klong Prao village for extra restaurants and shops; some local places within walking distance depending which exit you use.

You’re not in the thick of a village.  This is very much a beach-focused resort but you’re far from isolated. Songthaews run along the main road, and it’s easy to head to White Sand or Kai Bae if you want a change of scene.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere at Paradise is friendly, relaxed and family-oriented:

  • Lots of families with children enjoying the large pool and water slides
  • Couples reading on sunloungers, occasionally retreating to garden bungalows
  • Groups of Thai and foreign friends meeting up for easy beach breaks

It’s not a quiet, adults-only hideaway; equally, it’s not a party hotel. Expect pool noise in the middle of the day, quieter early mornings and evenings, and a fairly sociable but not rowdy mood overall.

Rooms – Bungalows and Villas in the Gardens

The resort offers around 80 units. A  mix of garden bungalows, seaview bungalows and more upmarket villas, including some with private pools.

Main Room Types

  • Superior / Deluxe Bungalows: Single-storey units in the gardens, with terraces looking onto lawns and palms. Comfortable and well kept; some are older and show a bit more patina.
  • Beachfront Bungalows: Similar style, but in the front row facing the sea. Wake up, step onto the sand, job done.
  • Pool Villas: Newer, more luxurious villas with private plunge pools and upgraded interiors; best for couples or families wanting extra privacy and comfort.

Typical features include:

  • Air-conditioning
  • King or twin beds with decent mattresses
  • Private bathrooms with hot showers (some villas have bathtubs as well)
  • Flat-screen TV, minibar, kettle and safe
  • Private terrace or deck with seating
  • Good Wi-Fi, improved in recent years

Recent Thai- and foreign-language reviews highlight the rooms as “clean, comfortable and spacious”, with occasional comments about mosquitoes in some garden units, inevitable with this much greenery by the beach.

Facilities

Koh Chang Paradise scores strongly on facilities, particularly for families:

  • Large Swimming Pool: Big central pool with plenty of loungers.
  • Water Park / Kids’ Area: A dedicated zone with slides and water play features, mentioned repeatedly in reviews as a highlight for children.
  • Children’s Pool: Shallow area for younger kids to splash safely.
  • The Royal Spa: On-site spa offering Thai massage, hot stone, aromatherapy and Ayurvedic-style treatments.
  • Beachfront Restaurant & Bar: “Koh Chang Paradise” restaurant serves Thai food, seafood and international dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with sea views.
  • Pool Bar: For daytime drinks and snacks.
  • Garden Grounds: 51 rai of landscaped gardens, lawns and coconut trees, lots of space compared to some neighbouring resorts.
  • Tour Desk & Transfers: Standard excursion and transfer services; snorkelling and diving trips can be arranged easily.

Beach & Swimming

Beach-wise, Paradise lives up to its name. Guests praise:

  • Wide, sandy beachfront with enough space that it rarely feels cramped, even in high season.
  • Shallow water and gentle waves, perfect for children and less confident swimmers.
  • Nice sunset views along the bay and out to the islands.
  • Easy access to beach walks north or south along Klong Prao.

Snorkelling is better done on boat trips rather than off the beach here, but for classic “sand and splash” days it’s one of the best stretches on Koh Chang.

Food & Breakfast

Food is a notable strong point, particularly breakfast:

  • Breakfast: Guests repeatedly comment on the variety and quality, plenty of Thai and Western options, good fruit, bakery items and something for picky eaters as well as more adventurous ones.
  • Dinner: The evening restaurant serves solid Thai dishes and seafood; reviews note very tasty mains and the added bonus of fire show entertainment some nights, which kids love.

There are cheaper local options in Klong Prao village, but many families are happy to eat on-site several nights running for convenience.

How Koh Chang Paradise Compares to Other Klong Prao Resorts

  • Paradise vs Klong Prao Resort: Both are big beachfront resorts. Paradise feels a bit more modern overall and has the water park; Klong Prao has a slightly quieter, more “old Koh Chang” atmosphere.
  • Paradise vs Santhiya Tree: Santhiya is more luxurious, more romantic and much more focused on private pools and Thai wood architecture. Paradise is more family-friendly, more open and generally cheaper.
  • Paradise vs Barali / VAYNA: Barali and VAYNA are smaller, more boutique-style beachfront properties. Paradise offers a bigger pool, water park and more grounds so is better for families but less intimate for couples.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Excellent central Klong Prao beachfront
  • Water park and kids’ facilities that actually justify the “family-friendly” label
  • Spacious grounds with plenty of greenery and space to spread out
  • Comfortable, well-equipped bungalows and villas
  • Very solid breakfast and good evening meals

Cons

  • Can be busy and noisy around the pool area in high season
  • Some garden bungalows show minor cosmetic ageing
  • Less suited to guests wanting a quiet, adults-only vibe
  • Insects (mosquitoes) can be an issue in some units, especially after housekeeping leaves doors open,  a recurring review comment

Who Should Stay at Koh Chang Paradise?

Great choice for:

  • Families with children who want slides, shallow pools and safe beach swimming
  • Couples wanting a comfortable, easy-going beachfront resort with good food
  • Groups who prefer to have everything on-site rather than exploring every night

Probably not ideal for:

  • Travellers who want boutique seclusion or adults-only peace and quiet
  • Design-focused guests who care more about ultra-modern interiors than beach and facilities
  • Anyone who wants their money to go further

Value for Money

Value-wise, Koh Chang Paradise sits in a nice sweet spot: it’s not the cheapest on the island, but the combination of beachfront location, water park, spa, gardens and generally well-reviewed food means you get a lot for what you pay. Families in particular tend to leave very happy, feeling that the kids had enough to do without spending extra every day.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a straightforward, comfortable, family-friendly resort right on a lovely stretch of Klong Prao Beach, Koh Chang Paradise Resort & Spa is one of the strongest candidates. It might not have the wood-carved drama of Santhiya or the design flair of The Dewa, but as a place to swim, eat, sleep and watch the kids wear themselves out in the water park before sunset, it’s hard to fault.
