Gajapuri Resort & Spa
Gajapuri Resort & Sppa is a boutique designer hut resort for people seeking luxury but in teak wood, rather than concrete, surroundings. It is very nicely done and is a good alternative to an impersonal, generic 4 star resort. No obvious downsides as far as the standards of accommodation go.
The staff also seem to be on the ball, efficient and speak good English. and get rave reviews for their service minded attitude The location is also very convenient with plenty of places to eat and drink within 5 minutes walk of the resort.
The spacious pool and garden area mean that there’s never any fights for the sunbeds and the resort never seems busy, even when fully occupied.
The only negative would be that the beach isn’t great, it is narrow and the trees on the shoreline, whilst keeping the resort private, also block the views – so no real point in paying for a sea view room and you can’t easily sunbathe on the beach. You’ll just have to make do with the more private sunloungers in the garden area adjacent to the beach or by the pool or just just chill out in the privacy of your pool villa. Tough life. :-)

This is a long overdue review. My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Gajapuri Resort in February 2015. We booked a different hotel but when we arrived there, it was overbooked. There was no room for us. We’ve decided to give this resort a try and call them directly hoping they would still have rooms. To make the long story short, they gave one of its superior cottages with garden view and just a few minutes away from the pool.
We thought they’d charge us double since we only booked that day. But they didn’t. We definitely didn’t expect that but they did give us a cottage where we could easily walk from our room to the pool, beach and the restaurant. My partner said that we should have asked for a lower rate but I thought it could be overly done if we did that. They already gave us one of their nicest rooms without the extra charge for not booking ahead.
The resort has a kid’s free zone that offers guests pure relaxation. Our room was spacious enough with a huge bathroom and a 7-foot king size bed. We also had a work desk and tea/coffee maker.
When we arrived there, we were greeted by their friendly staff. I couldn’t believe why we didn’t pick this first, instead of the one we chose to book online. It offers a quiet ambiance but it’s not too remote. It’s located in a very scenic area.
Our room was beautifully decorated. It has a variety of amenities, from DVD player to clean bathtub to flat screen TV. They also provided us with sleepers and bathrobes. I must say that they have almost everything you might desire that you forgot to bring with you when staying here is provided.
Another thing we liked about here is their rates. Although their rooms weren’t the cheapest, they do offer reasonable rates for everything. This made us very happy, considering that we were really tight on budget. They simply wanted us to feel comfortable, instead of letting us feel they wanted our money.
The food they served in their restaurant was reasonably priced. I wasn’t so sure what happened but, I think there was once or twice that they gave us 20% discount on the food that we’ve ordered. The cuisine was fantastic with great quality.
We had a swim in the sea but it was quite tricky as the water was too low at that time. There were small reef hundreds of meters from the beach. But they had a pool a few minutes away from our cottage. We spent most of our time there. They also offered us free kayaks but we were the only ones who took that chance as our other friends were kind of fearful about kayaking. Well, they were not as adventurous as we are.
The room rate that we got had complimentary breakfast which was excellent. I didn’t need to eat lunch after that.
Outside our cottage was a beautiful garden with raised walkways. On our left they had this excellent pool. In all sorts of ways, the atmosphere and the overall place was nice and superb. It was nicely located on the beautiful beach with palm trees.
The place offers a certain ambiance that you’d surely feel like you’re still at your own home, relaxing and forgetting about everything. The only difference is that they have a beach in front that you can watch and unwind.
While staying here, we surely had a nice, relaxed vacation. Throughout our stay here, we receive great service from the staff. I might add that their smiles were some of the best smiles we received for a long while. Gajapuri is a great place to stay.
