The Southwest of Koh Mak, Ao Sai Khao. Most visitors to Koh Mak will stay in this area. A long expanse of sand covers the southwestern shore of the island leading several kilometres from Holiday beach resort at the north end to the now defunct Panorama Resort at the southern tip of the island.
There are no large hotels here. Accommodation is in small bungalow resorts which range from the backpacker accommodation of TK Hut & Lazy Days up to the air conditioned comfort of the new Makathanee Resort. Most resorts occupy the middle ground as far as pricing goes with bungalows from 1,000 – 2,000 baht/night.
