But that doesn’t mean you should overlook Klong Son, as many people seem to do as they race from the ferry pier to the west coast beaches. As such, virtually all visitors to the island pass through it, but few stop to explore. It’s nice place to wander around either on your own by scooter or on the new Slow Life Cycling Tour which takes you round some the local sights and gives you an insight into real life on Koh Chang. For example, most people coming here know there is a fishing village in Bangbao but don’t realise there is one in Klong Son too – the difference is that the one is Klong Son is much more ramshackle and you’re far more likely to see fishermen there than tourist businesses.
You’ve also got the best elephant camp on the island; a shrine to the spirits who look after the fortunes of Koh Chang; some good jungle trekking; a nice little multi-tiered waterfall; a huge luxury beachfront housing development with 9 hole golf course and the valley makes for a very nice spot to live should you wish to make your home on Koh Chang without breaking the bank. Plus there is even a golf driving range and cock fighting arena. So, it really does have something for everyone.

A few photos, not so much of the main sights, but more to give you a feel for the area.
