Having survived the scooter ride over the big hill from the ferry pier you find yourself in White Sand beach. The northernmost of the main west coast beach areas. It’s not a village, just a kilometre long strip of tourist shops, bars, restaurants and resorts that runs parallel to the beach and then leads uphill and south towards Pearl beach.
If you are staying around this area then the video might be of interest – see if you can spot your hotel. Or if you are wanting to practice riding a scooter on relatively wide roads with no real, steep climbs or hazardous bends then this stretch, as you’ll see, is a good place to do it. But it’s not the most exciting ride as there are are no views & no mad corners or hills.
Any dangers here are likely man-made and come from fellow road users – as it is quite busy. Pedestrians and the odd street dog that might wander into your path. As a rule, if you don’t feel confident riding along this section of road take that as a bad omen and put an end your scootering adventure on Koh Chang.
