What Could Be Better

- Lots of passing foot traffic on the beach
Best For
- Travellers wanting beachfront access without high-end pricing

Summary:
A resort with great potential thanks to its location and gardens, but uneven room quality means choosing the right room category matters. Best for beach lovers who don’t mind a few rough edges.
Koh Chang Grandview Resort – Full Review
Overview
Grandview is one of the older large resorts on White Sand Beach. It enjoys a prime beachfront location with sprawling gardens and a big pool, but the rooms and buildings range from “decent and updated” to “retro Thai beach hotel”.
If your priority is staying right on a good swimming beach at a reasonable price, Grandview works. If you prefer modern rooms and polished service, you may be happier elsewhere.
Location – Central Beachfront Convenience
The resort sits in the middle of White Sand Beach, directly on the sand and close to everything:
- Restaurants, shops and bars within a 2-5 minute walk
- Easy beach access with loungers right on the sand
- Lively area with lots of passing foot traffic
This is ideal for holidaymakers who want convenience. It’s less ideal if you want peace and privacy.
Atmosphere
Grandview has a relaxed, slightly old-school beach resort vibe. The gardens are lovely, the beachfront is busy but scenic, and the pool is a social hub in the afternoons.
The overall feel is casual and family-friendly. It’s not boutique, not luxury, not particularly trendy—just a big pleasant beachfront property with a “classic Thai holiday” atmosphere.

Rooms – A Mixed Bag
Room quality varies a lot, so choosing the right category matters.
Bungalows
Closest to the beach, clustered in shady green areas. Very atmospheric but generally older:
- Traditional styling, some dated furniture
- Best locations but not the most modern interiors
- Good for the “old island” experience
Hotel Rooms (Main Building)
- Air-conditioned, larger and brighter
- Some renovated, others showing wear
- More consistent than the bungalows but with less character
Bathrooms across all room types are functional rather than fancy. Expect simple fittings and variable water pressure depending on the building.
Facilities
Pool
A decent-sized pool sits near the centre of the resort, surrounded by palms and sun loungers. It’s one of the better pools in this price range on White Sand Beach.
Restaurant & Bar
A beachfront restaurant serves Thai and Western dishes. The food is okay for a few meals but you’ll probably want to explore the dozens of other options nearby.
Other Facilities
- Beach loungers and umbrellas
- Massage hut on the sand
- Kayak rentals
- Small convenience shop
The Beach
One of the stronger parts of the resort: it sits on a great stretch of White Sand Beach.
- Soft sand, plenty of space
- Good swimming conditions in high season
- Busy and social atmosphere
Not as quiet as the northern end, but excellent for walking, swimming and people-watching.
How It Compares to Other Resorts
- Kacha Resort: Similar price range with newer rooms and more facilities; Grandview has quieter gardens and larger beachfront area.
- KC Grande: Far newer and more polished with better pools, but pricier.
- 15 Palms: More stylish and modern but smaller and with fewer facilities.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Great central beachfront location
- Large pool and gardens
- Good value for direct beach access
- Lots of room types to choose from
Cons
- Rooms vary heavily in quality
- Some areas feel old and under-maintained
- Service can be slow
- Beachfront can get crowded
Who Should Stay Here?
Perfect for:
- Travellers who prioritise the beach over room interiors
- Families wanting space and a pool
- Visitors who want central convenience without KC Grande prices
Not ideal for:
- Anyone wanting modern or stylish rooms
- Guests who dislike noise or crowds
- People with high expectations of service or maintenance
Value for Money
Good value if the beach matters most. Less good if you care about room quality or perk-filled facilities.
Final Thoughts
Grandview is best described as “perfect location, average rooms”. It delivers a beachfront setting at a fair price, but a renovation would transform it. Until then, it remains a good but imperfect choice for families and easygoing beach lovers.
