Lazy Republique is one of the best reviewed ‘flashpacker’ resorts on Koh Chang. It’s a small place with only a handful of bungalows. Guests can relax in the restaurant or spacious garden area. Free wi-fi is available and the cool, concrete bungalows have all the conveniences you need without being over fussy.

With only a few rooms, the French/Thai owners can spend a lot of time getting to know their guests and helping them plan their time on the island. And that’s reflected in the reviews the resort receives.
It’s located roadside in the quiet village of Bailan, just south of the far busier and noisier Lonely beach. So the Bailan area is popular with people who are looking for good value accommodation away from package tourists and away from, but within easy reach of, nightlife areas.
There is a small beach in Bailan and this is accessible for Lazy Republique guests through Bailan Beach Resort which is directly opposite.
If you want friendly owners and an inexpensive, modern AC bungalow in a peaceful spot then this should definitely be on your shortlist. High season room rates from around 1,200 Baht.
Very good rooms with delightful hosts. 😀 - The hosts were very welcoming and displayed a genuine charm and grace. We enjoyed the units that we were in and the choice of delightful breakfasts. It was close to some delightful cafes and a short drive to good swimming beaches.

A magical five days 😀 - What a special place this is. One of our top stays while we have been travelling Thailand over the past month. My partner and I had such a magical time at Lazy Republique. The pool is gorgeous, especially at night. Pilou and Fred are so passionate about their place and that really shines through. The bungalows are all set in their own little private areas with outdoor seating. We loved they cleaned it every day as well. The facilities are all beautiful and very well maintained. This area of the island was also our favourite. Set in the south, much quieter with a nice beach within walking g distance. And the most wonderful restaurant next door called ‘Coconut Cafe’ Would highly recommend!

A perfect place and hosts 😀 - The place is absolutely breathtaking! From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by the beauty that surrounded us. The location offers a perfect blend of nature, with the nearby forest, mountains, and the sparkling sea, all embraced by a comforting sense of security. It truly feels like being in the heart of an exotic and untouched paradise. The owners of the place are simply delightful! Their warm and welcoming nature made us feel instantly at home. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional, providing us with invaluable tips and recommendations about the island and other must-visit places. Thanks to their guidance, we discovered a charming restaurant that will forever be etched in our memories; the food was nothing short of divine! A special shout-out goes to Pilou and Fred, the incredible hosts who made our experience truly unforgettable. Their genuine care and attention to detail surpassed all expectations. We feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet them and be their guests. They are without a doubt the best hosts we have ever encountered. In addition to the enchanting surroundings and wonderful hosts, the property boasts a magnificent swimming pool that was an absolute savior during the scorching midday heat. Taking a refreshing dip in the pool was an incredible way to cool down and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. And let's not forget the lovely garden, adding an extra touch of serenity and natural beauty to the whole experience. Overall, discovering this place has been an extraordinary stroke of luck. We are filled with gratitude for the remarkable experience and the memories we have created. This is truly a place that leaves an indelible mark on one's soul. Thank you again to Pilou and Fred for creating such a haven of beauty and hospitality. 😞 - The only downside of our stay was that we had to reluctantly continue our trip. We were so captivated by the place that we couldn't help but wish for a time-stopping device to extend our stay indefinitely. Pilou and Fred, if only you could have magically made our departure date disappear, we would have happily stayed forever, leaving all our travel plans behind!

Beautiful, every part is maintained and looked after, 100% reccomend 😀 - we have been travelling for 3 months, we spent two weeks here as we enjoyed it that much. rooms were great, worth the money, pool was beautiful and clean, staff were amazing and breakfast was all homemade, incredible. Pilou and Fred (owners) go above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect. we cannot thank them enough for the amazing time we spent at Lazy Republique. To get to the nearby towns/ bars must be willing to drive a moped. as only a couple of restaurants walking distance. Next door but one there is a beautiful Thai restaurant which is incredible. We even did a class of Yoga, with Ewa, who was a teacher staying at the property and Pilou joined in. Thankyou for the best two weeks, hopefully see you both again.

Amazing hospitality, spacious rooms 😀 - The room was great - spacious and comfy - but it was the hospitality that really stood out. The owners made us feel at home immediately, always remembered our breakfast preferences and we loved hanging out with them and getting to know their story over delicious cocktails at the bar. The pool area is wonderful too - excellent beanbags :) 😞 - No complaints!
