Bhu Tarn Resort is situated on the main road near the centre of Klong Prao beach. it has the same owners as the beachfront Klong Prao Resort but offers a better standard of accommodation for a lower price.
Bhu Tarn Resort is a small, comfortable hotel with rooms situated around a garden and pool area. What makes it special is that it’s linked to Klong Prao Resort by a footbridge across a lagoon. This gives guests easy access to the beach and also to the facilities at Klong Prao Resort.
If you like this type of hotel then it’s worth comparing it to the nearby Koh Chang Paradise Hill or The Erawan, on White Sand beach.
There are just 21 rooms at Bhu Tarn Resort. These are a minimum of 40sqm in size and so are far more spacious than most hotel rooms on the island. They also come with all the amenities you;d expect – safety box, TV LED , Mini-bar, Coffee Maker, Bathtub, Shower, Hairdryer, Bathrobe and Slippers. The bathrooms even have double sinks. Something usually only seen in 5 star resorts. However the high season room rates are from around 2,000 – 2,500 Baht/night. Which is much lower than you’d expect for the standard of room.
There are three categories of room, based on the views from the balconies. The nicest views are from the Lake view rooms which look across the lagoon towards the sea and have sunset views. However, as the balcony is compact, you probably won’t be using it that much anyway. Just go for one of the other rooms with a regular view and then enjoy the sunset from the beach.
The resort restaurant serves a buffet breakfast but the selection is fairly limited, due to it being a small resort. On the roadside nearby there are numerous small restaurants, shops and bars. So grabbing an inexpensive lunch or dinner in the evening is a simple task. As the main road is also right outside reception, guests can easily hop on a pick up truck taxi and head to one of the other beaches for a night out.
As value for money goes, Bhu Tarn Resort is one of the best mid-range resorts on the island. No major downsides to staying there, apart from it not being right on the beach. So definitely recommended if you prefer smaller resorts, a large room and great value for money.
