The Chill Koh Chang Resort and Spa
The Chill Koh Chang is one of the resorts to put on your shortlist if you just want to get away from it all and have a week or two of boutique luxury on the island.
The smallest room is 50sqm and all are fitted and furnished to a contemporary 5 star standard. White washed walls , white linens, dark woods and colour being provided by the occasional cushion is the order of the day. The well trained staff and calm, friendly ambiance exude professionalism.
I know someone who travels the world on business and rates the Sky Room as one of the best and also best value hotel rooms he has stayed in anywhere. This is 100sqm with living room, bedroom, jacuzzi and huge balcony with sea views. Ideal for a honeymoon or just a romantic getaway.
This isn’t really a resort for families though. It is more geared up to luxury seeking couples who want to spend their days idling by the pool, which stretches the entire length of the resort from reception to the beach.
Two negative aspects are the beach, which is nothing to write home about. It’s narrow and nowhere near as good as the southern end of Kai Bae. This issue is also shared by the adjacent Gajapuri Resort and AWA Resort.
The other is the price of food & drinks. Theawesome breakfast buffet is included in the price. But if you fancy a snack or a drink by the pool, be prepared to pay a hefty premium A small beer or fruit juice costs over 200 Baht including various taxes. Ridiculous.
Fortunately, there are plenty of places to eat, drink and buy refills for your minibar on the roadside within two minutes walk.
High Season room rates from around 6,500 Baht/night

The Chill Resort & Spa is a place where you want to stay in a hotel with great room (without spending too much) and fantastic views. I’ve stayed here twice and each time I stay, it keeps getting better. The last time I was there was a a couple of years ago and then again this year.
I especially enjoyed the sea breeze each time I go out and look at the magnificent views making each minute of my stay here worth memories. The place was cozy and away from the busy streets of Bangkok. Although the prices are high, it was all worth it considering the kind of service you receive.
Their rooms are excellent and everything around the hotel is clean and bright. They provide great amenities too, especially in their spa. When you decide to stay here, you should try their private massage service. You won’t regret it.
My last stay here was with my fiancé. We stayed in a villa with private pool for seven nights. The room was quite large, which was amazing considering the things we brought to our travel. What we really liked about staying in the villa is that we had a private access to the hotel’s swimming pool. We swam all night since our villa has its own private pool, unlike the public swimming pool that opens up to 7 pm.
We also liked the lightings of our villa. They were soothing making them more suitable for a restful sleep at night. The room includes a sofa and a work area. It was well-decorated too. It had a modern touch but the Thai spirit was still there.
We had Wi-Fi access, which gave us a strong Internet connection. We just wished we brought some DVDs with us as the room had DVD player. There were DVDs available but the movies weren’t to our liking.
The bed? It was soft and would make you want to lie down all day while looking at the great views surrounding the hotel. It was, all in all, super comfortable.
They provided free shampoo, conditioner and soap, which, by the way, smelled great a lovely lemongrass aroma. The towels were clean and smelled fresh. We asked for a toothbrush as I forgot mine and the staff delivered it quickly. Everything in the bathroom was great.
The place was so serene. We had no problem with unnecessary noise. This was something that we truly appreciated as we had a peaceful sleep each night. As my fiancé would describe it, a contemporary place with some class. It was awesome to wake up each morning of our stay here to open the curtains and door and see the amazing sea view.
Their concierge team was great. I must say that almost all of them provided everything we had requested. Some of them coordinated with several of our tasks allowing us to save tons of time. The staff was friendly but I definitely recommend making friends with some of them because they could easily pull strings when no one else could. They were also extremely helpful in assisting us on how to go to wherever we wanted to go within the island.
When we arrived, the doorman helped us with our bags. He was really nice, although he didn’t speak English fluently. The staff was really professional. They are always eager to help you out whenever they can.
Now, the food. It was awesome. We had breakfast buffet in their own restaurant. They served hot items, like bacon and eggs. But they also provided some cold items, like cold cuts of meat, local fresh fruits, yogurt, etc.
If you wanted to have your meal outside to save money, you could as other restaurants are located near the resort. They offer cheaper meals. Directly opposite is a little bistro called Moo 4, Try it, you won’t be disappointed. Five star standard food for a 2 star price.
If you are looking for paradise and a stellar experience while visiting Koh Chang, you should consider the Chill Resort.
