The Erawan is a smart, modern hotel located on the main road in the centre of White Sand beach. It’s a step up in design and quality from the majority of resorts in the area which still offer older bungalows and rooms at premium prices.
Since opening in 2016 The Erawan has been racking up good reviews from guests. It is a very nicely designed hotel with floor to ceiling windows in all rooms. The 4th (top) floor Deluxe Sea View rooms, overlooking the main road, have by far the best views as they face the ocean and sunset.
Rooms lower down also have a balcony but with limited or no views. The cheaper Garden view rooms, without a balcony, face the hillside at the rear of the building. So whilst there isn’t much of a view, they are well away from street noise.
The Deluxe rooms are very attractive, with wood detailing complimenting the soft natural tones. Beds are super comfortable and the rooms are well equipped. Some of the Deluxe rooms facing the garden also have a bath tub. The Sea View Deluxe rooms are the most expensive at around 5,500 Baht/night during High Season.
However, this is more of a hotel suited to couples rather than families. As there aren’t any Family rooms and an extra bed is 1,400 Baht/ night.
No real downsides other than, for the price, you might want to spend your money on a beachfront resort. And due to the location some guests experience noise from the adjacent Oodies Restaurant – a popular live music venue. But overall, guests love their stay. The affable manager ‘Mr Henry’ is also big part of the hotel’s success.
If the price is too high then a couple of cheaper, but equally good, roadside resorts to look at are Bhu Tarn Resort and Paradise Hill Resort – both on Klong Prao beach. Or, for a much cheaper roadside option on White Sand beach, try Baan Saikao Plaza – although that doesn’t have a pool.
