January 2014 was a very dry month on Koh Chang. Not a drop of rain. However, for the first three weeks of the month it was also cooler than normal – especially at night and early morning. This was due to the strong northeasterly winds bringing cold air down from China. The sight of people wearing their European clothes at breakfast and in the evening was common. During the day temperatures got up to around 26 – 28C. by the end of the month this was back up to 30C or so which is normal.
Most days were clear with plenty of sunshine and just a few clouds. The winds meant that whilst there were some fairly big waves on the east coast, the sea of the west coast remained relatively calm.
