Jinda Restaurant, White Sand Beach

Jinda Restaurant Koh Chang

Jinda is located roadside at the far north of White Sands beach.  It is part of the resort of the same name and has been owned and operated by the same local family since it’s inception almost 20 years ago.  It’s a no frills restaurant with better than average decor, brickwork and chunky wooden furniture make it stand out from the normal ‘cheapy’ places.  The restaurant is open on three sides and has fans to help diners stay cool,  but I’d avoid sitting too close to the dusty roadside.  Flick through the English / Russian / Thai menu and you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the prices.  Not the cheapest on the island but , for White Sand beach, very good value for money.

As usual I didn’t bother with any of the Western offerings and instead went for a a bit of spicy stir fried seafood and Green Curry – one of the most popular Thai dishes.  Both were very good and having asked for them to make it normal; Thai strength  I was pleasantly surprised that the cook actually did and there was a bit of chilli used.  One thing missing from the Green Curry was the baby eggplants – these are the little vegetables that often get mistaken for some weird kind of pea that pops in your mouth when you bite into it.  But, I can’t complain.  The food looked good, full of colour and flavour and the price was right.

Open all day for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.  In the evening there is also fresh seafood on offer.  This is a good place to eat if you are staying at the adjacent KC Grande Resort and want to avoid the tourist fodder on the beach nearby.

Price: $ – $$$

Location: On the inland side of the road at the northern end of White Sand beach, opposite the 7-Eleven.

These restaurant reviews are just my thoughts on a place at the time I visited. I’ll mention if I know the owner well or get any freebies. But for the most of the time I am happy to play tourist and don’t mention this site at all. Obviously it isn’t possible to sample every dish on the menu and the type of food you have for lunch will differ to evening. In addition, owners and more importantly chefs, can change and your experience may differ from mine. If it does, post a comment below.
