( Find up to date information in the Koh Kood guide. )
Just a few photos from a recent trip down to Koh Kood. A great island to visit and probably the best in Thailand for lovers of beaches, jungles, waterfalls and deserted roads – ideal for cruising along on on your rental scooter. However, you’ll only really enjoy the island if a) You rent a scooter or b) You are content to stay on the same beach as your resort. And you definitely won’t enjoy it if you want lots of activities, bars or places to party.
The reasons for this is that although it’s a large island there isn’t much in the way of public transport; many resorts are located down dirt tracks off the main road; and when you get to the main road you’ll find there are very few shops, bars or restaurants anywhere.
As before , we stayed at Mangrove Bungalows, located on a river estuary a few minutes paddle or walk to Klong Chao beach. The bungalows are located by the river, they aren’t anything luxurious bit are clean and comfortable and there’s free wifi in the restaurant ( which is also very good). I like this location as there are shops and small restaurants close by; it’s pretty central so easy to head north or south of the scooter; the 4 star Peter Pan and Tinkerbell Resort, both on the nearby beach have great cocktails.
