Koh Mak Beach Clean Up

11 July saw the ‘Beach Clean Up Day’ on Koh Mak. This was organised by Ball from KohMak.com (www.facebook.com/ballkohmak  ) Several resorts on the island contributed workers and food, water & equipment for use on the day – although the project didn’t receive any official help from the local authorities on the island.

Resorts that lent staff or provided help with donations & equipment were Big Easy, Koh Mak Resort, Cococape Resort, Holiday Beach, Lazy Day, Bene Resort, Ao Kao White Sand Beach Resort, Baan ChaiLay, TK Hut & Island Hut.

If you’re thinking of staying on Koh Mak, you might want to support resorts such as those above and businesses – i.e. Boom mini mart,  Smile Koh Mak Thai Cooking School, Koh Mak Seafood & Sweet cake & coffee who all contributed to the clean up.  All resorts were asked to participate, many declined forreasons best know to themselves.  Several expat homeowners who couldn’t attend also made donations to help keep the beaches of Koh Mak clean for others to enjoy.

In all around 2 tons of rubbish was collected off the beaches by the 40 volunteers who worked from 8.30am until dusk.  In the evening a party was held for all participants.
