Whilst the beach, particularly the northern end, is as nice as ever, the roadside in White Sands continues to be filled with uninspiring concrete shop units or hotel blocks that spring up in place of older bungalows or small shops. Garbage and sewage are an increasing problem, as is the lack of mains water, with many resorts relying on water tankers.
These issues have yet to be solved, and with the addition of more hotel rooms on the beach, can only get worse. But visitors especially Scandinavian and Easter European package tourists seem to like the place, and it is a good spot for a night out.
