Odds n' Sods

Inside the 6 Star Soneva Kiri on Koh Kood

If you are the type of person reading this site then you probably won’t be the type who would stay at the Soneva Kiri on Koh Kood.   This   is the region’s most luxurious and exclusive resort.   Guests arrive by private plane on a small island close by, from where they are whisked by speedboat to their hideaway where they can spend their days cordoned off from the unwashed masses.   It’s

A guest’s every whim is catered for by their own personal butler type of person and there’s even free handmade chocolates on offer. Plus you get your own golf cart to tear around in.

Here are a few videos taken by a guest that give you an idea of what you can expect for US$2,000 – 3,000 per night.   ( Looking at all that untreated wood my first thought was that the maintenance costs must be horrific. )

  • The beautiful views are free wherever you stay and I couldn’t see anything (except easy access if that’s what you want) to justify the extortionate prices. The restaurant down the river looked exactly like the one 50 metres from Baan Makok. Save yourself thousands and stay there instead; it was wonderful, maybe a little remote but definitely the epitome of the unspoilt getaway.Actually I would go so far as to say it was faultless. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
I just don’t get it – who on earth stays at this place?
