‘Sea of Lights’ – Loy Krathong Festival in Salakphet, koh Chang

Loy Krathong Koh Chang

Loy Krathong Koh Chang

The Loy Krathong festival was held across Thailand on the night of 7 November.  On Koh Chang the main festivities for people on the west coast of the island were centered around Klong Prao temple, where there was the usual temple fair, loud music, games, food and plenty to drink.

However, over in Salakphet they had a much better idea and made a couple of thousand coconut shell lanterns which the villages then floated in the bay – creating a ‘Sea of Light’ effect.  Way more interesting that the temple fair which doesn’t vary at all year on year.

S, if you happen to be on Koh Chang for Loy Krathong 2015 – it’s worth finding out that they have planned down in the south east of the island.
