Barali Beach Resort
Barali Beach Resort is one of those places that could, and really should, do much better. It’s got a good location, the bungalows / villas are pretty good, yet it’s just missing that spark or special something to make it a really good resort.
The ‘could do better’ attitude is one that is commented on by many guests, spacious bright bungalows with rainfall showers and sunken bathtubs but in need of some attention. Plus staff that, whilst doing their best, aren’t quite as good as those at the top resorts on the island.
So the location is good, the resort is pretty good – at the southern end of Klong prao beach and with the local village just a few minutes walk away. The room rates are aren’t too bad either. It lies adjacent to Centara Tropicana Resort, but as Tropicana has expanded, try Barali if you prefer the smaller resort feel.

Anyway, I was here a few weeks ago to attend a bachelorette party for one of old friends who works in Bangkok.
There’s a fine selection of amenities at Barali Resort, excluding the Wi-Fi. This resort does have a Wi-Fi at the reception area but the signal is weak in the villas. I’m mentioning that first because it’s so important for many people, including myself nowadays.
The entire resort is a bit older but it doesn’t show it too much. However, the style of its bed that I slept gave me that classic Thai feeling. Quite firm but not uncomfortable.
For those who enjoy fishing, hiking, snorkeling, massage and a private beach area, they would surely enjoy this resort, just like me and my friends. We found it to be a paradise that’s certainly worth a visit. It’s my first time here at Barali and I found this place to be very peaceful.
Our room included breakfast buffet. I like eating Thai foods, so, yes I did enjoy what they offered. However, some of my friends who aren’t fond of eating this type of food didn’t enjoy as much as I did. Hence, we went to other restaurants that were located on the beach a few minutes walk from the resort.
The suites and villas have been refurbished and we stayed in a Deluxe Villa. Overall, the staff maintained the gardens and public areas very well.
As I already mentioned, the wifi was useless, but the room did have a flat screen TV with comfortable bed. Our room had an amazing bathroom. The design of the shower is gorgeous. It looked like the one in a 5-star hotel in the UK. But the air-condition unit that we had was too noisy we could hardly sleep.
In the reception area I particularly liked the local artwork and paintings of the island
The resort’s staff was impressively nice and polite. Even though we didn’t arrive in a brand new Mercedes Benz, they did treat us like the royalty. Or at least that was how we felt when we arrived. All of those who attended to our needs were helpful and didn’t ask for a tip each time we asked them for something.
The location of Barali Beach Resort isn’t far from the main road but it still offers a form of exclusivity as the beach was never busy and there were no annoying vendors like I have seen on other islands.
The resort has a spa and wellness center. I tried having a massage here but I didn’t quite like how the masseur touched my shoulder. I have a shoulder injury but I think she made it worse.
The beachfront restaurant of this resort is brimming with life each night. Thanks to its selection of entertainment options. Each night they provide a show that would make you want for more when you stay here. But I’m not sure if they do it during low season.
In terms of social activities, you would find this resort to be a great way to socialize, there were plenty of older couples here during our visit. So, overall the resort was worth it and I would stay again, especially if I was with my husband. But I think White Sand beach would have been better for our party night.
