Paradise Bungalows, Kai Bae beach
Paradise Bungalows Kai Bae, is another of the roadside resorts in Kai Bae village. It is located near the south end of the village and is built on a slope. This gives the bungalows at the rear some good views over the village. Noise isn’t really an issue as although there are shops on the road nearby, there aren’t any loud bars in the vicinity. The beach is under 5 minutes walk away.
There are a range of Fan and AC bungalows but given the difference in price is only a couple of hundred Baht / night, it’s worth going for the AC bungalows, for around 1,200 Baht / night in High Season, which also have the best views.
You should note that breakfast isn’t provided. But that’s not really an issue as it’s possible to find small restaurants serving breakfast close by. And, to be honest, anyone who’s had a ‘free’ breakfast of soggy toast, a sad sausage and limp egg at a budget hotel before probably wishes they hadn’t bothered. Book a cheap room with no breakfast and then try different places when you are here.
A good choice if you’re on a tight budget. There are better run places nearby but they’ll cost you a lot more. If you can look after yourself and just want an AC room in a convenient location then it’s well worth considering.

We didn’t plan this trip a long time in advance and so it was a matter of booking something last minute and taking a chance. A friend recommended a couple of places, but those were full. So we took a chance on Paradise Bungalows. And it paid off. I searched it and found some pretty good reviews about the place as well as a good deal for 1,100 Baht / night on hotel-booking website.
These bungalows were built in modern tropical Thai style, and being located in the middle of Kai Bae village, the bungalows are surrounded by coconut trees and the view from the hotel was pretty good. We could see the sunset.
There is no doubt that we had memorable stay. There are three types of accommodations to choose from; Fan bungalows, Air-Conditioned Bungalows and Cottage rooms. My family and I chose the air-conditioned bungalow and we have no regrets at all.
The rooms that we booked were pretty spacious, perfect for a comfortable stay. Overall, I was happy with the facilities and services provided there. The bathrooms were not big but the interior was clean and well-appointed. The AC, the lights and other appliances were all in good condition except the TV which was quite old and displayed just a few channels in a low picture quality. Another thing I would like to mention is that few of the windows were stuck and we had to put some effort in trying to open them.
The towels were changed every day and there was no shortage of bathroom supplies such as soaps, shampoos, toothpaste etc. Once, I needed a new bar of soap and the staff was quick to react, bringing it to me within 5 minutes.
The bungalows have Wi-Fi facility which was a huge convenience as I could answer the important business mails and could communicate with my friends back home. If we talk about comfort, the mattresses were soft and the rooms were cozy. The appropriate use of lighting and proper ventilation ensured that the room remained cool and the air remained fresh inside.
Good customer service is an important aspect when describing an experience at a hotel and I am very glad to report that the staff were helpful and hospitable. A couple of small problems we reported were taken care of with minimal hassle.
The location of the hotel is handy for anyone who wants to be close to the beach and also local amenities. In the main street that is very close to the bungalows, there are a number of small restaurants offering wonderful Thai food. If you want to save yourself a few Baht then you can always find small Thai snack stalls serving delicious, cheap food.
Now coming to the food at the hotel; there’s not much apart from the free tea and coffee. But that isn’t a big problem as nearby is a great bakery called Papa Deli which does some good breakfasts and just along the street are a couple of other Western places serving breakfast. So some days we had crossisants and coffee, others a Full English.
All in all, Paradise Bungalows is a nice place to stay on your trip to Thailand. Not the best place we stayed in Thailand, but it does the job for a family on a budget.
