Yoga Classes
Baan Zen is a beautiful modern, wooden, semi-Thai style house, set by the water, in peaceful surroundings. It’s just a short walk from Klong Prao Beach and with 5 minutes walk from Amari Emerald Cove, VJ Hotel, Tropicana Resort & Barali Resort.
Yoga is one of the best way to preserve a healthy and youthful body. Asanas (postures) keep the body flexible and alive while meditation and Pranayama (yogic breathing) keep your mind intact. It’s basically a natural way to manage your mood and calm your mind. More than a therapy, yoga is a philosophy of life.
(If you’ve read this far you’ll probably guess that I haven’t written this. I don’t have a clue about Yoga and wouldn’t know my asana from my chakra, so I am just relaying information that Joy, the French owner & instructor, has provided me with. She should know what she is talking about as she has been teaching yoga classes around the world for over 12 years.)
Yoga Courses
Classes will run only in small groups and Joy will be your teacher: certified by the Sivanada school, she also studied Iyengar yoga in India as well as “eyes” and “songs” yoga in France.
At Baan Zen Yoga on Koh Chang, you will find yourself in an environment conducive to self exploration and will have the opportunity to learn a great deal about your body and mind. You will learn the base of relaxation, meditation, pranayama, as well as asanas, mantras and songs.
At Baan Zen, you will practice “Hatha yoga” by maintaining each posture, and focusing on the following essential points:
- Be “here and now”: Forget the past, don’t think of the future: live and enjoy the present moment
- Breath deeply with a lot of consciousness: Your breath has to become your best friend and even your love
- Forget your ego completely
- Find the “middle way”: Moderation is the keyword. You must exert effort in order to succeed but you should not permit the extremes of self torture and over considerate pampering
- Discover the unique “inner” experience of yourself: Be aware and mindful, moment to moment, paying attention to what’s happening in a total way
- Each session start with breathing, songs and pranayama exercises, following by asanas. Each class ends with mantras and meditation
Practising in such a way will bring you all the benefit of yoga and meditation (flexibility, serenity and ….JOY). However, it requires patience, perseverance, consciousness. In order to get a real personal transformation, yoga and meditation have to be part of your daily life…..And no one else can do it for you !!!
