Koh Chang By Bicycle – A Slow Life Cycling Tour

Slow Life cycling on Koh Chang provide a day tour of local attractions

Lazy Bicycle Day Trip

At last, a cycling tour on Koh Chang.  At first glance all those hills and the busy road down the west coast may make you think that you’d be mad to cycle on Koh Chang.  But fear not, an enterprising young Thai tour guide and cycling enthusiast called ‘Chat’  has put together a ‘Slow Life Cycling’ tour.

This allows participants to explore the local way of life on Koh Chang whilst avoiding both the hills and the traffic.  You don’t have to be a hardcore cyclist to enjoy this tour as it isn’t a strenuous ride.  It’s simply a great day out for anyone from 8 to 80 years old who can balance on two wheels.

The tour takes place in the Klong Son area at the north of the island.  This valley isn’t really on the tourist map but is ideal for exploration by bike.  The trip philosophy focuses on seeing local life in an area away from the beaches.  Riders get off the beaten track and visit some of the areas where villagers live in order to experience the real Koh Chang – the one that existed before the tourism boom.

Chat will guide you and riders are encouraged to stop as often as they want in order to learn more about the area and the locals’ way of life.  During the rider you’ll visit the beach, pine forest, rubber plantations, fishing village, Chinese temple, Buddhist temple plus have the chance to see some elephants and swim in a little visited waterfall deep in the valley.

Groups are small – the maximum is just six people ( minimum is one person ) and there is only one tour per day, so although it starts at 09:00 there is no fixed finish time.   Participants are picked up from their hotel from 07:30 – 08:30 and taken to the starting point in Klong Son and at the end of the day you’ll be taken back to your hotel.

Tour Price: 1,500 Baht / Person
  • This includes: Transfer service from your hotel;  Bicycle & helmet rental; Professional Tour Guide ( Accredited by TAT ); Lunch; Water, Soft drinks & lunch plus Insurance.
  • Tours take place daily from October to May.  The minimum height for riders is 150cm.  There isn’t a fixed time for the end of the tour, that depends on the group but it should take approximately 4 – 6 hours.
  • Private tours for couples, small groups or families can also be arranged.
