Koh Mak Resort sits smack in the middle of it’s own 1.5km long beach on the north west of the island.   That should be enough of  a reason to stay there.  It’s quite  a large resort with an ever increasing variety of room types to suit most budgets.

This longstanding resort, owned by the ‘Governor’ of Koh Mak has been steadily upgrading it’s rooms to cater for more families and visitors who appreciate more modern bungalows.  At present, accommodation ranges from older fan and AC bungalows situated closer to the resorts restaurant and reception area, to virtually brand new two floor 2 bedroom ‘houses’ and very modern, private  suites at the far western end of the beach

The suites are especially nice, their airy, glass fronted, flat roofed, modern design doesn’t look as out of place as one might think in a coconut grove by the beach.  Close by the resort”s swimming pool and pool bar ‘Ocean Place’ is a great spot to hang out.

Whilst there are a couple of places to eat outside the resort most of the small restaurants and bars on the island are located on the south east facing beach which is within walking distance, about 15 minutes away, you need to walk down the beach then over the ridge and down to the opposite side of the island.  Walking by paved road would take far, far longer.

Recommended for beach lovers.  But not ideal if you like a variety of places to eat and drink close to your resort.
