Koh Mak Lazy Day Resort

Posted by Ian No Comment

lazy-day-resortRoom rates from 2,750 baht

Koh Mak Lazy Day Resort is in a peaceful spot at the southeastern end of  Ao Kao Beach, facing south on Koh Mak.

Until a couple of years ago this was a run down hut resort for backpackers.  However, the old huts have gone and been replaced with bland, but functional concrete AC bungalows.

The layout of the resort is a bit strange, it doesn’t seem to have been planned, with bungalows built on a seemingly ad-hoc basis and the restaurant located right at the back of the resort.  This lack of planning can easily be seen in the photo on the left. The steps go up to the side door to the bungalow.  So if you are sitting on the balcony and want to go to the beach you have to walk through the room first.  Or jump down from the balcony onto the grass.

Add to that the lack of landscaping and you get the impression someone just built bungalows in a field near the beach.  With a bit of effort it could be a very nice resort but as it is it has a half finished feel.

If you want something cheaper than Makathanee Resort or like the peace and quiet of  Koh Mak Resort but prefer somewhere smaller then take  a look.  But otherwise, there isn’t an overwhelming reason to stay here.

Room Rates for 2010-11: From around 2,750 Baht High Season
