Koh Mak Cococape Resort is situated on a headland separating two long sweeping bays on the northwestern shore of Koh Mak.  There’s no actual sandy beach directly in front of the resort but walk along the shore to the left or right and you’ll find plenty of places to lay on the sand or swim.

Directly in front of the resort their wooden pier stretches out into the sea and provides a nice spot for sunbathing or snorkelling.

However, the resort can’t really decide who it is trying to appeal to.  At first glance it’s an upmarket place but they you notice they have some small, basic fan huts too which would be more at home in a backpacker resort.  The best rooms are around the man made, fish filled sea water lagoon, in the photo, so don’t mistake this for a swimming pool.  The resort’s pool is in front of the sea view rooms and also has great views north to Koh Kham and beyond.

One common comment from visitors is that the management and staff aren’t that friendly or only perk up when large groups of Thai visitors descend on the resort during long weekends.  So thumbs up for the lovely, peaceful location, but for value for money and service then you’ll find better elsewhere on the island.
