VJ Residence is located in Klong Prao village at the rear of Klong Prao temple.  (If there’s a cremation, remember to close your window.) The beach is a couple of hundred metres away as the crow flies but getting there involves either walking through a deserted construction site or through Barali or Tropicana Resorts.

It’s a pretty quiet location though, off the main road but within 5 minutes walk several small local shops, restaurants etc where you can pick up very cheap beers and food.  Don’t expect frills or pampering but there are very few places on Koh Chang where you can get an AC room with sea view, cable TV and a pool for just over 1,000 baht/night in high season.

True the ‘Residence’  resembles a poorly designed apartment block, but if you’re on  a limited budget and just need a clean,  safe, airconditioned place to lay your head then why not?   They also run a free shuttle service to the beachfront VJ Resort, at the southern end of Klong Prao beach.
