The Chill is one of the resorts to put on your shortlist if you just want to get away from it all and have a week or two of boutique luxury on Koh Chang.

The smallest room is 50sqm and all are fitted and furnished to a contemporary 5 star standard. White washed walls , white linens, dark woods and colour being provided by the occasional cushion is the order of the day. The well trained staff and ambiance exude calm professionalism.

I know someone who travels the world on business and rates the Sky Room as one of the best ad best value hotel rooms he has stayed in anywhere, this is 100sqm with living room, bedroom, jacuzzi and huge balcony with sea views. Ideal for a honeymoon or just a romantic getaway.

Only one of the Pool Villas has sea views and the very small plunge pools aren’t private, so it isn’t really worth paying the premium for these rooms.

This isn’t a resort for families though – it is more geared up to luxury seeking couples who want to spend their days idling by the pool, which stretches the entire length of the resort from reception to the beach, or in the Spa.

Two negative aspects are the beach, which is nothing to write home about and very much secondary to the actual resort. And the price of food & drinks – probably the most expensive on the island with a small beer or fruit juice costing around 200 -250 baht including numerous taxes. Ridiculous. There are plenty of places to eat, drink and buy refills for your minibar two minutes walk away on the main road.
