The (new) Koh Chang Photo Pages

Sukhothai

Well worth a visit but go early in the day or expect to face hordes of Thai and foreign tourists.  Can get around the site by bicycle which is good fun, or walk.  Or drive if you just want to see the temples briefly and not get too sweaty. Si Satchanalai, a much smaller temple complex to the north is far quieter and if you are on a tour you may also go there for an hour or so.  Plus have lunch in one of the riverside restaurants.

Need a nice place to stay in Sukhothai?  Try 'Ruenthai' Basically an upmarket guesthouse.  Nothing luxurious, but clean comfortable AC rooms, pool, good restaurant and friendly, efficient staff.  Rooms from around 1000 baht up.

Sukhothai

Si Satchanalai

You know you are upcountry when you see tour buses painted like this.

Silk museum at Si Satchanalai.  Nothing much of interest for sale in the shop.  but they have a good collection of old farm equipment, you can see elderly women weaving 'Jok' fabric - and buy direct from them, and there is a museum with a nice collection of antique silk - the oldest being around 200 years old.
